Tipping The Hat

As we say hello to June it’s time for a little reflection, after all we are almost halfway through 2025.
A way of recognizing the different hats we wear… an appropriate metaphor, especially for a Yorkshire Milliner.
At the end of last year I was honored to receive the Creative Bee Award at the Ask Zoe’s small business award ceremony which raised money in memory of Oliver Howe who sadly died at eight years old. Oliver’s favourite colour was purple, so I purposely designed my fascinator for the day to be in purple. Choosing your very own colorways can create amazing results and helps steer everything in the right direction.
I was proud to make the final for two awards by January at the Growth Community, both for the Most Transformed Member and Member of the Year. I was thrilled to win the Most Transformed Member of the Year and receive my trophy. More recently I have found out my bespoke headwear has won a UK enterprise Award! More news on this later.
A new client commissioned me to make a bespoke hat to wear at a garden party at Buckingham Palace. It was a pleasure to work with this lady who founded DonMentia and raised money for this charity. So many people with so many hats to wear!
With the celebration of Ask Zoe’s business birthday back in mid-May it was a great time to catch up with connections as well as seeing some new faces. Of course, it was the obvious question which arose, “which headpiece to wear”?
My May blog left a long-lasting effect on me. It seemed only natural to wear a headdress of flowers!
