Sculptural headpiece – The Joy of Sinamay – 2 Day course
Experience the luxury of creating your very own Sculptural headpiece over two consecutive days using the wonderful textures of Sinamay, a beautiful hat making fabric, using traditional techniques by blocking on a Dome shaped wooden Millinery block.
A chance to unwind and give reign to your imagination and develop your very own Headwear to take home.
Indulge in an array of techniques to explore the charm of Sinamay.
Sinamay is an impressive, versatile millinery fabric derived from the abaca tree, a banana palm native to the Philippines.
Amazingly, this strong, woven, rough textured material can produce hat foundations with a sharp defined shape and yet, as if by magic, can be manipulated to produce trims as delicate as a butterfly.
By familiarising yourself in the various processes you will be “smitten “and the joy will be in “whatever takes your fancy “
